A131728 Ong Hooi Yee LJ05

Subsequently, we were being exposed to two types of personality: Type A and B. Type A individual can be described as ambitious, aggressive, business-like, controlling, highly competitive, impatient, preoccupied with his or her status, time-conscious, and tightly-wound. People with Type A personalities are often high-achieving "workaholics" who multi-task, push themselves with deadlines, and hate both delays and ambivalence. Type B individuals are described as perfect contrast to those with Type A personalities. People with Type B personalities are generally patient, relaxed, easy-going, and at times lacking an overriding sense of urgency. Because of these characteristics, Type B individuals are often described as apathetic and disengaged by individuals with Type A or other personality types

After that we were given self-scoring MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) personality test to do. The alphabets I got at the end of the test was ISFJ( Introvertion, Sensing, Feeling, Judgment). Basically, introverts are more concerned with inner world of the mind. They enjoy thinking, exploring their thoughts and feelings. They often avoid social situations because being around people drains their energy. After being with people for any length of time, they need time alone to 'recharge'. When introverts want to be alone, it means that they either need to regain their energy that have been drained by people around or they simply want the time to be with their own thoughts. Being with other people, even those they like and are comfortable with can prevent them from their desire to be quietly introspective. Being introspective, those conversations they engaged in are generally about ideas and concepts but not the trivial matters of social small talk. Sensing refers to intuition which can be found inside a person. ISFJs tend to be more concrete than abstract. They focus on details rather than trivial matters. They concern more on immediate realities rather than future possibilities. Feeling in ISFJs means that they preferred to thinking. They tend to value personal considerations above objective criteria. They often give more weight to social implications than logic when making decisions. Judgement in ISFJs means that they preferred to perception. ISFJs tend to make early plan or decision. They derive a senc e of control through predictability.

The final task was the self-scoring Big Five Personality Test. The Big five factors are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism (OCEAN). From the test, I found out that I belong to personality trait type C (conscientiousness) where I have a tendency to show self-discipline, act dutifully, and aim for achievement and exhibit planned rather than spontaneous behavior.

In conclusion, it is better for us to know which personality we belong to. This lecture has helped me to identify my personality traits better. With this, I can improve myself to a better one after knowing all of my shortcomings.
